Happy Saturday! I am a little closer to on time this month – and I’m 90% caught up finally after being sick last month. I would be further along – but my son graduated high school and his ceremony was yesterday, but this whole week was a flurry of activity. Today was the first calm day in a bit, so I worked on finishing up some things. So now we’re going to look at several items from the Polish Pickup June 2024 shop … and the theme is Cartoons!

For the fine details – for all photos shown – I usedVapid Lacquer Commitment Issues Peel Off Base,and for the glossy photos I didMonarch Lacquer Hi-Def Shine Top coat(sent as PR and I’ve also purchased.. and that’s an affiliate link).For all textured polishes, I did useGlisten & Glow Glitter Grabber(PR) andMonarch Lacquer top coatover it.
For my lighting setup, since I use artificial lighting due to my day job, involves 2Neatfi XL Lamps from Amazon(affiliate link) as well as thisDaylight Company Duo Daylight Lamp(affiliate link).
And lastly – I do use artificial gel nails that I do myself at home. In this post (and video) I am usingApres Gel X Nails in Extra Short Stiletto, which are clear nails. I do not use blurring base coats or anything to increase opacity of the nails – and it shows during my YouTube videos especially. With the clear nails, if you can see through the tip still – then odds are you will also see VNL through the polish I have on. If you cannot see through them, then opacity was likely reached.

This is a sheerer polish and if you will likely see through it unless you used a blurring base or more than 3 coats.

The magnetic pull on this is more on the subtle side and not as noticeable.
I only magnetized the middle and ring nail so you can see it both ways.

Description: Little Mermaid is a solar polish that goes from a mint green inside (non UV) to dark purple in the sunlight or with UV light, and has violet to orange iridescent flakes. I used 3 thin coats and a glossy and matte top coat for these photos.
I did use a UV flashlight for these photos since I take them at night.
The stronger the UV light, the darker the polish gets. Please make sure you are not wearing a UV blocking top coat when wearing this or it will not transition. Transition may also be slighter if using a window while inside to see transition – most windows block different percentages of UV rays.

The base color looks darn near black for this polish, but it’s described by the maker as a deep emerald green.

This is a sheerer polish, but it does build up to more opacity by the third coat.

This polish naturally dries down to a satin finish.
These photos are edited to show as close to true color as possible. It was difficult to photograph and the only way to get a close to realistic version of it was to have it edited to show that.

Description: Thumper is a grey crelly base with taupe undertones, and loaded with large particle shimmers that shift red to orange to pink to gold to green, and a subtle amount of holo flakes. I used 2 coats and a glossy top coat for these photos.
The shimmer does make this base look a bit more taupe than grey.

Description: Dry + Prep is actually something I used for my Gel X Nails. Basically on your natural nail plate – apply a thin coat and it helps dehydrate the nail plate, corrects the nail plate pH balance and preps the keratin surface for adhesion of base coats and nail polish (and in my case, the “glue” I use to attach my gel nails) This also allows the nail to be free and clear of any residue and oils that can cause base coats and/or nail polish to lift or chip.
How to use: wash hands and nails with soap and water, dry hands and nails. Apply to the nail with the provided brush. Allow to dry for 30-60 seconds. Repeat this step of you have nails that are prone to lifting or are you oily nail plate. Now, apply base coat or nail polish to the nail. (The brush will spray out and separate into sections, this is totally normal.)

Inspiration: Inspired by Breakfast Cereal. Saturday morning cartoons had kids glued to the TV while eating their favorite cereals. Lucky kids had options; marshmallows or mini cookies, colorful fruity flakes or honey covered rings – the cereal aisle was heaven! Served with cold milk, and hopefully, a prize inside the box, a spoonful of cereal was the perfect pairing for hours of animated fun.
Description: KBShimmer’s sugar scrubs are good for all over the body or as a hand scrub, the sugar particles are medium grit so they do a good job getting dry spots on your body situated.
The scent is a sweet blend of strawberry, raspberry and bing cherry combine with notes of juicy orange for a delectable scrub scent. Sugary vanilla amps up notes of buttery caramel, adding a hint of bakery notes to this fruit-scented sugar scrub.
This smells like Cap’n Crunch with berries. 100% Cap’n Crunch berries with milk poured into the cereal. It’s amazing

Description: Red Eyed Lacquer’s cuticle oil comes in a 4ml click bottom brush tipped pen. It gives great hydration and coats the skin/cuticle nicely to massage in.
The scent is a blend of ripe juicy fruits such as plum, strawberry, raspberry and grapefruit sweetened by subtle undertones of french vanilla, hints of cocoa, melted butter, whipped cream and fresh baked goodness.
My nose picks up the fresh fruits – primarily strawberry and raspberry, and a tiny bit of plum. I can also pick up melted butter/bakery like undertones.

Description: Milk has been used in beauty routines since ancient times, it is high in lactic acid that aids to remove dead skin cells, for soft and supple skin. Coconut milk is also packed full of vitamins and antioxidants, especially vitamin C, which is known to brighten skin and increase elasticity. Along with quality skin loving oils and butters, this makes coconut milk the perfect option to include in a creamy coconut milk hand creme. This creme has a more fluid consistency than the Unicorn Magic Skincare Deluxe Triple Butter Hand Lotion, but is still rich, nourishing and moisturizing.
The June scent is Coconut Soleil and is described as: relaxation of a beach vacation, enveloping it in the iconic, familiar scent of coconut and banana suntan lotion. Get your beachy vibes on with fruity pineapple top notes whipped into mid notes of banana & coconut and finished off with a splash of vanilla and tonka bean.
To my nose – I pick up sweet banana and vanilla with a tart little pineapple kick. It smells like if you bottled up the tropics and put a fancy little spin on it. It’s slightly sweet but not super fruity. The vanilla and amaretto help soften the fruitiness.
